Article: Tillage Erosion
I never knew there was a term for this event that we have all seen at some point. Around here it shows up as little piles left behind when we raise a ground hog or plow. Mostly these piles get smoothed back into the landscape and ignored but there are long term consequences.
I should also note we see many of the same depressing results they describe from our use of gravity irrigation. On our operation, we have used their remediation strategy of hauling dirt back to the upper end of the field and seen positive results. It always seems expensive at the time but perhaps it is worth a more critical evaluation.
