Observation: Roots Under Wood
Well, it's trying to be spring out there. I was just working around the garden and found something interesting. On the border between lawn and garden we have a wood divider; nothing fancy, just a plank of cedar laying on the ground. Today I had to move one of these planks that has been laying in the same spot for 20 years or so. The grass roots growing in the boundary between wood and soil was quite remarkable for a March day. The quantity of root hairs is what really attracted my attention. I can only conclude there is something very beneficial happening here for the grass but I don't know what it is or how to employ it yet.
