Field Bindweed Control Empty Field Bindweed Control

I am having a problem with field bindweed in my pasture, so much so that I’ve had horse health issues with several horses (swollen muzzles and colic). I am thinking of hiring a licensed herbicide applicator to spray it -- but before I reach for the chemical approach do you or does anyone else have any further control options or suggestions?

Alayne, I have sheep on my pastures and I do not have any Morning Glory where we rotational graze. They feed the plants so that they weaken and will no longer compete and die out. I also have horses and mules but seldom run both on the same pasture together. I would suggest that you buy or borrow a few sheep to run along with the horses. It may take awhile do eliminate the weed. Watch that the horses don’t pull the wool off of the backs of the sheep. Good Luck!
